Local tour guides who are familiar with the beautiful spots of Mindoro Island guide the excursions. They speak fluently english and are funny and friendly. The excursions are very well organized – catering and a lot of fun is included.

This trips starts at 10.00 am. The drive goes towards the San Teodoro hanging bridge. Walking over the bridge we enter the enheritige world of the Mangyans. The Mangyans were originally normades but for years they have been settled in this mountain region. The tourism has become a tool in their fight for survival. Their cottages are so simple and small, that they can be disasembled and assembled within a day. From the Mangyans village the tour continues in kajak for about 45 minuttes over the rivers of the mountains. At the end me meet our driver, who takes us back. This is a halfday trip and we will be back around 1.00 pm.

Lake Tall and Volcano

taal1.jpgtaal-volcano.jpgtaal4.jpgtaal3.jpgtaal2.jpg

Taal is the world’s smallest, active volcano. With its 300 meters is a popular trekking destination. The volcano is located in Lake Taal 50 km south of Manila where access is achieved through the city of Talisay. Here a banca can be hired to cross the lake and hike up the crater. The hike can also be carried out on the back of a horse. In the crater there is a steaming lake. So you have got a ‘volcano in a lake with a lake’. The trip including the hike is a full day event, but it can also be planned as part of the transfer from Mindoro and back to Manila – where we will take you to the stunning viewpoint.

What about a trip to Aninuan Waterfalls. It is a nice little trek from the village Aninuan of about 45 minutes. You will be crossing small rivers and pass by small local huts with cows, goats and chickens in the front yards.
On the way up, there is a beautiful vegetation of plants and flowers –same kinds as you put in your living room at home. Different birds and butterflies are to be seen as well.

As you reach the top by the waterfall it is very refreshing to jump into the small pool and swim into the cascade of water pouring down from the mountains. The landscape is beautiful and the experience is not to miss out on.
Since we hire a private jeepney for transportation on this trip, it can be combined with other activities in that area. It is possible to visit a home for children from the streets of Manila. The home is a “Stairways”-project, well organized and with good results. Another option is to combine the trip with an afternoon at a quiet white beach, visit an Italian restaurant and enjoy a well made pizza in the sunset.

For your information, the Starways project here in Mindoro has been founded by the dane Lars Jørgensen and his wife Monica. You can read more about the organisation on their website.

WATERSPORT
