Trips from Mindoro

Our excursion program was developed in close cooperation with a local travel agent. There are different offers from which everybody can choose depending on individual interest. Local tour guides who are familiar with the beautiful spots of Mindoro Island guide the excursions. They speak fluent English and are funny and friendly. The excursions are very well organized – catering and a lot of fun is included.

Taal is the world’s smallest active volcano. With its 300 meters is a popular trekking destination. The volcano is located in Lake Taal 50 km south of Manila where access is through the city of Talisay. Here a banca can be hired to cross the lake and hike up the crater. The hike can also be carried out on the back of a horse. In the crater there is a steaming lake. So you have got a ‘volcano in a lake with a lake’. The trip including the hike is a full day event, but it can also be planned as part of the transfer from Mindoro and back to Manila – where we will take you to the stunning viewpoint.

What about a trip to Aninuan Waterfalls? It’s a nice little trek of about 45 minutes from the village of Aninuan. You will be crossing small rivers and pass by small local huts with cows, goats and chickens in the front yards.
On the way up, there is a beautiful vegetation of plants and flowers – same kinds as you put in your living room at home. Different birds and butterflies are to be seen as well.

As you reach the top by the waterfall it is very refreshing to jump into the small pool and swim into the cascade of water pouring down from the mountains. The landscape is beautiful and the experience is not to missed.
Since we hire a private jeepney for transportation on this trip, it can be combined with other activities in that area. It is possible to visit a home for children from the streets of Manila. The home is a “Stairways” project, well organized and with good results. Another option is to combine the trip with an afternoon at a quiet white beach, visit an Italian restaurant and enjoy a well made pizza in the sunset.

For your information, the Stairways project here in Mindoro has been founded by the Dane Lars Jørgensen and his wife Monica. You can read more about the organisation on their website.

There are several water sport activities for non-divers. Why not try ‘flying’ aling the coast of Puerto Galera with a high speed Jet Ski? (Allowed only in non diving areas). Or why not jump over the waves on waterskis? Did you ever try to ride a racing banana? Having fun is permitted.

Besides diving Sabang is very well known for it’s night life. After a 5 minute walk from the dive center you will find yourself in Sabang Bay where you will find many restaurants, pubs, clubs and discos. Sabang is busy every day of the week all year round, but appears to be full in the high season. In Lalaguna Beach you will find more quiet bars.

We have different activities to offer children. First of all they can learn to snorkel – initially in the pool and later when ready in the ocean. Children learn fast and have a lot of fun finding and pointing out fishes. Children between 8 and 10 years old can participate in the Bubblemaker Program from PADI. It is a fun, easy and safe way of diving, never going deeper than 2 meters. The SeaL TEAM Programme offers all week water missions for the children to complete and consists of finding fish, swimming with a compass or learning about buoyancy and dive equipment.
